March 02, 2011

As text is one of the most commonly used elements of web design, its typography can really make or break a web design. In any website’s web design process, typography of text and placement of text should be given its due importance otherwise the effectiveness and overall look and feel of whole design is disturbed.  In text typography, text attributes which should be considered are font, font size and font color. These attributes of text should be selected carefully considering the website goal and its target audience.
While selecting text font for web design, web designer should realize the fact that different types of fonts say different things in a website’s design. Web designer should make sure that he is using the right font according to website requirements. Sometimes web designers tend to overlook the font size element which is also very important because text is meant to be read, and it is not just a design element just to be looked at. Web designer should ensure that font size is consistent throughout the website and is large enough to be readable.
